Plagiarism & Research Misconduct
JGPI maintains a zero-tolerance policy on all forms of research misconduct. Every submitted manuscript is processed through plagiarism detection software prior to editorial screening. Manuscripts with a similarity index exceeding 20% (excluding references, quoted text, and standard methods language) are subject to immediate rejection or return to the authors for explanation.
Forms of misconduct include: plagiarism (using another's work, ideas, or language without attribution — including verbatim copying, paraphrasing without citation, and concept theft); self-plagiarism (re-publishing one's own prior work without disclosure, including duplicate publication and redundant reporting); data fabrication (inventing data or results that do not exist); data falsification (manipulating or selectively omitting data to alter conclusions); duplicate submission (submitting the same manuscript to two or more journals simultaneously); salami slicing (dividing the results of a single study into multiple minimally differentiated papers); and ghost or gift authorship (including non-contributors or excluding bona fide contributors from the author list).
The consequences of confirmed misconduct prior to publication include immediate rejection, and in serious cases, notification of the authors' institutions and referral to COPE. Post-publication misconduct results in a formal retraction with a published notice; retracted articles remain permanently accessible — clearly marked "RETRACTED" — to preserve the scholarly record. Authors may additionally be barred from future submissions to any Bukhari Press journal.
